TIGERS 54 BELLE VUE 36

Thursday May 26, 2022
SHEFFIELD recorded their biggest win of the season so far with a 54-36 victory over rivals Belle Vue at Owlerton.

t was the perfect response from the Tru Plant Tigers who suffered their first defeat of the year in the Premiership League Cup last week.

It maintains their early 100 per cent Premiership record as they moved to within two points of the Aces who currently sit top of the table.

Many expected a much tougher test from the Manchester men, but Simon Stead’s side were always in control.

They found themselves eight points ahead with six races gone - a lead that was halved when Belle Vue bagged their first and only maximum of the night in the seventh.

But three heat advantages followed for the hosts as they reassured their dominance in a meeting where they claimed 11 race winners.

Tru Plant Tigers team boss Simon Stead said: “That was the perfect response to what happened last week.

“I don’t think Belle Vue did anything wrong particularly, I just thought we were very, very good tonight.

“They caught us on a really, really good night, we went about our business really, really well and that was a great way to bounce back.”

After finishing last in his opening ride, pacey Pole Tobiasz Musielak recovered in the finest of styles to reel off four straight wins to top the Tigers’ scorechart.

Craig Cook produced by far his most standout performance since joining the club and was rewarded with his best score to date in Sheffield colours.

Captain Kyle Howarth was paid for double figures for a third straight meeting while spearhead duo Jack Holder and Adam Ellis both managed two heat wins on their way to nine points each.

Reserve duo Stefan Nielsen and Connor Mountain both contributed three points apiece on another tremendous night at Owlerton in front of a big crowd.

The Tru Plant Tigers now prepare for a trip to Wolverhampton on Monday (May 30, 7.30) - a venue they have already enjoyed victory at in 2022.
