TIGERS skipper Andre Compton is backing recent recruit James Birkinshaw to enjoy a big season back at Owlerton next year.

Compton said: "I've helped Neil [Machin] in discussing aspects of the team for 2007 and we spoke about James and both thought he would be a fantastic signing.

"In the past he has had poor away form but moving to other tracks has improved that, and we all know what he is capable of around Sheffield!"
