BRITISH SEMI-FINAL REPORT

Thursday May 10, 2018
FORMER Sheffield man Jason Garrity stormed to a stunning 15 point maximum in Thursday's British Semi-Final at Owlerton.

And there was something for the home fans to cheer as well as Tigers skipper Kyle Howarth finished second with 12 points, also booking his place in next month's Final at Belle Vue.

It was a keenly contested battle throughout with Josh Auty, Edward Kennett, Robert Lambert, Rory Schlein, Dan Bewley and reigning British Champion Craig Cook making up the rest of the qualifiers.

None of those ever looked like catching Garrity though and the Scunthorpe man dedicated his win to daughter Amaya.

"It's her birthday today and that makes it even more special," Garrity said.

"This is an awesome result for me; especially when you consider I left Scunthorpe the other night without any of my engines working.

"But we've worked hard on them since them and they were flying tonight.

"I'm just thriving in my racing again right now and while I'm over the moon with the result, this is only half way.

"Now we go to the final and try and do something similar again"

Meanwhile Tigers captain Howarth said he felt back on form on the meeting after recent struggles with a knee problem.

"I probably came back sooner than I should've to be honest," he admitted.

"So that's made it a tough couple of weeks lately but I felt good tonight and I'm pleased to have not only qualified but also to have made it onto the podium."

The 2018 British Final takes place at Belle Vue's National Speedway Stadium on Monday, June 11 (7.30).
