IPSWICH 55 TIGERS 35

Friday October 13, 2017
SHEFFIELD's run in the Knockout Cup is over after they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season at Ipswich.

The Tigers went down 55-35 at Foxhall, resulting in a 94-86 aggregate defeat in their semi-final clash.

The Owlerton men were unable to hold onto their 12 point first leg lead as they endured a Friday the 13th to forget in Suffolk.

The scores were all level with 11 races gone, but back-to-back 5-1s in Heats 12 and 13 put Ipswich in the driving seat and left Sheffield with a mountain to climb.

Former Tiger Nathan Greaves came back to haunt his old club, top scoring for Ipswich and snatching the vital second place in Heat 14 to book the hosts a place in the final.

From a Tigers point of view, Guest No.1 Scott Nicholls, racing against his old club, was the only rider to notch double figures for the Steel city side while local lad Josh Bates was the only other Sheffield rider to take the chequered flag on two occasions.

Full reaction will follow on Saturday.

IPSWICH 55: Nathan Greaves 13+2, Danny King 12+2, Cameron Heeps 12, Ty Proctor 11+1, Mason Campton 5+1, Connor Mountain 2, Justin Sedgmen R/R.

SHEFFIELD 35: Scott Nicholls 13, Josh Bates 9, Jan Graversen 6, Lasse Bjerre 4+1, Todd Kurtz 3+2, Georgie Wood 0, Kyle Howarth R/R.

Ipswich win 94-86 on aggregate.
