NEWCASTLE 48 TIGERS 42

SHEFFIELD team boss Simon Stead was delighted to see them cap off a successful weekend with another strong showing at Newcastle on Sunday.

The Window Centre Tigers went down 48-42 at Brough Park but claimed a hard-fought consolation point.

A heat 15 win for Josh Grajczonek ensured they made it two points from two tough away meetings after Friday’s narrow defeat at Edinburgh.

It was another determined display from Stead’s side against a powerful Newcastle outfit – and Stead was delighted with their efforts.

“I’m very happy,” Stead said. “We’ve gone to two really tough away tracks in the space of three days and come away with two league points.

“The boys gave it 100% and I can’t ask for any more. They’ve done well to get two good results and I’m really pleased with them.

“We knew we needed a 3-3 from heat 15, and Josh has already done that for us a couple of times this season. We put him on the best gate and he managed to get the job done for us which was fantastic.”

Grajczonek top scored for the visitors, whilst Josh Bates and Robert Branford also impressed in what was a solid all-around team performance.

They will be back in action as they host Newcastle at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30) in the return fixture.
