SKIPPER DISAPPOINTED

Sunday September 30, 2007
SHEFFIELD Tigers skipper Andre Compton managed only four-points in the Premier League Riders' Championship at Swindon on Sunday night.

Compton, who has consistently been one of the league's top performers in recent seasons, failed to recover from two last places in his opening two outings in a meeting won by Workington's James Wright.

Compton was so disappointed he left the Wiltshire venue before the end of the meeting to begin preparations for Thursday's massive play-off showdown between the Sheffield Window Centre-backed Tigers and King's Lynn at Owlerton.

Wright was top scorer in the qualifying heats with 14 and got the edge over his rivals in the final to win his first PLRC crown.

Final: Wright, Lyons, Rempala, Nermark

Semi-Final: Nermark, Rempala, Topinka, Holder

Qualifying scores: James Wright 14, Jason Lyons 13, Daniel Nermark 13, Chris Holder 11, Tomas Topinka 10, Jacek Rempala 9, Tai Woffinden 7, Kaj Laukkanen 7, Josef Franc 7, Chris Kerr 6, Chris Schramm (res) 6, Lee Complin 5, Andre Compton 4, Michal Rajkowski 4, Emil Kramer 2, Trent Leverington 1, Jason King dna.
