EDINBURGH 56 TIGERS 36

Friday July 29, 2016
SHEFFIELD saw their winless run extended to four meetings with a disappointing 56-36 defeat against Edinburgh at Armadale.

The Window Centre Tigers took a patched-up side to Scotland and were well beaten by the Monarchs on a tough evening.

The visitors ran 12 last places and recorded only four race wins on another night to forget after losing their unbeaten home record against Peterborough 24 hours earlier.

Team boss Marc Bates admitted they were disappointed to leave empty handed - but he is desperate to see them regroup ahead of their clash with Ipswich at Owlerton next Thursday (7.30).

Said Bates: “I think our top five matched their top five, but it’s obvious the main problem was at reserve where they got a lot more points than us, and that’s something we need to have a look at.

“Kyle (Howarth) and Josh (Bates) tried extremely hard for their points, and I can’t thank Ricky Wells and Richie Worrall enough for coming in at short notice and doing such a good job for us.

“It’s another meeting we’ve got nothing out of, so we’ll have to regroup now and get back on track against Ipswich on Thursday.”

Worrall top scored with 13 points, whilst Wells and Kyle Howarth also made solid contributions.

Young gun Josh Bates partnered Worrall for a 5-1 in heat 10, but it was their only heat advantage as they struggled to make any inroads on the fast-starting hosts.

Reserve duo Arthur Sissis and Nathan Greaves both struggled as they were outscored 22-2 by their Edinburgh counterparts, whilst rider replacement accounted for only 3+1 points in place of the injured Dimitri Berge.

EDINBURGH 56: Kevin Wolbert 12+1, Max Clegg 11, Dan Bewley 11, Michael Palm Toft 8+2, Ulrich Ostergaard 7+2, Steve Worrall 7+2, Mark Riss R/R.
SHEFFIELD 36: Richie Worrall 13, Kyle Howarth 9, Ricky Wells 8+1, Josh Bates 4+2, Arthur Sissis 2, Nathan Greaves 0, Dimitri Berge R/R.
