TIGERS 51 EDINBURGH 39

Thursday August 20, 2015
SHEFFIELD stunned top of the table Edinburgh as they raced to a spectacular 51-39 win over the Monarchs at Owlerton.

Already heavily depleted, the Window Centre Tigers were dealt a further blow just hours before the meeting with in-form No.5 Jason Garrity ruled out with a back injury.

However, they put in a determined all-around team display to storm to a magnificent triumph over the in-form Monarchs and climb back up to third in the Premier League table.

It was a fine performance from Jack Lee's side as they sent out a strong message to their title rivals ahead of the play-offs - and team boss Lee was thrilled with a tremendous night at the office.

Lee said: "We knew it was going to be tough, but it was brilliant riding from everybody. Everyone pulled their weight and to come away with a win by 12 points was a fantastic result.

"Even I didn't expect a score line like that I have to admit. To do that without Arthur (Sissis) and Jason (Garrity) was an incredible effort and I'm certainly over the moon with it."

Another stunning showing from star guest Brady Kurtz led the Tigers to victory, although he received plenty of support from all areas.

Youngster Josh Bates bagged an all-action 12+1 on a hectic evening as he stepped up to cover the absence of partner Arthur Sissis through injury.

Nicolai Klindt also notched double figures with a classy display, whilst middle order man David Bellego added a solid 7+2 and was always in the thick of the action.

Italian ace Paco Castagna was involved in a trio of heat advantages whilst teen ace Zach Wajtknecht struck a vital paid win in his opening ride.

Sheffield will now look to build on their superb win as they host Redcar at Owlerton next Thursday (7.30).
