BIG WIN FOR TIGERS

Thursday June 18, 2015
SHEFFIELD bagged three more league points with a comprehensive 59-33 victory over Newcastle.

It was yet another big win for the Tigers against the Diamonds at Owlerton in 2015 having already beat them 57-36 in the League Cup back in April.

The victory keeps them in a very strong position in the Premier League table and despite the other teams around them still having meetings in hand, the Tigers still look good for an end of season play-off place if they can maintain their recent home form which has seen them go five meetings unbeaten.

Andre Compton returned to double-figures for Sheffield as did David Bellego and both teamed up for a 5-1 in Heat 15 to round-off the night in style.

Josh Bates enjoyed his best score of the season so far while British Final star Jason Garrity continued his good run of form since switching to the Tigers.

Ashley Birks enjoyed another positive meeting while Danish guest Lasse Bjerre recovered from a disappointing start to claim two race wins.

Arthur Sissis endured a tough night but he’ll be looking to bounce back when the Tigers host Workington in the Premier League next Thursday (June 25).

Boss Jack Lee said: “The lads rode well and it was a solid all-round performance to beat Newcastle.

“Hopefully we can keep it ticking over and the points will keep coming.”
