PLYMOUTH 46 TIGERS 44

SHEFFIELD added another away point to their Premier League tally despite suffering a narrow 46-44 defeat in a tight encounter at Plymouth.

The Window Centre Tigers put in another battling display on the road before eventually being forced to settle for a consolation point as they fell agonisingly short of victory.

Jack Lee’s side put in a strong all-around team performance, recording just six last places as all six riders notched solid contributions.

Although frustrated to narrowly miss out in another tense clash, stand-in skipper Andre Compton says they were pleased to earn a point for their efforts.

Said Compton: “I think we did well to get an away point, but I think it’s a little bit frustrating because maybe with a little bit more of a push we could have got over the line for the win.

“It’s always a bit frustrating when you miss out in a tight meeting like that, but it’s another good point away from home so we can’t be too disappointed.”

Jason Garrity continued his excellent start to life in Sheffield colours, racing to a hard-fought 12+1 as he top scored from the No.4 position.

Guesting No.1 Lasse Bjerre added an impressive 9+2, whilst Ashley Birks enjoyed a welcome return to form to add paid double figures including a breathtaking heat 12 triumph from the back.

Compton plus reserve duo Arthur Sissis and Josh Bates all made useful contributions as the Tigers put in another encouraging display as they continue to get over their injury problems plus the loss of Ty Proctor due to visa issues.

Sheffield will be back in action when they kick-off of their Knockout Cup campaign against Edinburgh at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30).
