SUPERB WIN FOR TIGERS

Thursday August 16, 2007
SHEFFIELD Tigers brushed aside reigning treble champions King's Lynn 55-37 in a plusating Premier League clash at Owlerton.

The win keeps Reg Wilson's men in contention for a place in the play-offs to decide the new league champions - but the Stars did have the consolation of the aggregate bonus point to take back to Norfolk.

Tigers skipper Andre Compton was at his best to record a 15-point maximum to delight the home fans just a week before the eagerly awaited Garry Stead Benefit Grend Prix.

Swedish test star Daniel Nermark was handed a tactical ride by visiting boss Rob Lyon in heat 7 and he responded with a fine win to restrict Sheffield to a 26-18 advantage. Former Owlerton favourite Paul Lee was third in a 7-2 win for the Stars.

But that was the last glimmer of hope for the Norfolk outfit as Sheffield went about their business su! perbly with a series of race advantages, inspired by captain Compton.

Nermark was easily the most exciting visitor on show and went from third to first in heat 10, passing both Ricky Ashworth and Wilson.

Compton completed his full house with little trouble in heat 15, a race which saw Nermark claim second spot after colleague Tomas Topinka retire after a collision between the two Stars riders.

The was a massive confidence boost for Sheffield as they enter the most important stage of the season in the race for the Premier League title.
