SHEFFIELD's trip to local rivals Scunthorpe on Friday fell foul of the weather after eight heats.
The Window Centre Tigers trailed by 12 points at the Eddie Wright Raceway before heavy rain hit and called a halt to proceedings.
The injury-hit Owlerton outfit had recovered from a difficult start to keep their hopes of a consolation point alive.
Reserve Taylor Poole continued his excellent form to pile up seven points, including the Tigers' only race win in heat two.
Debutant Nico Covatti also enjoyed an encouraging debut with two hard-fought second places.
However, the night came to a frustrating conclusion - and team boss Joe Screen admitted there was little choice but to abandon the meeting.
Said Screen: "It's frustrating for everyone but there isn't anything we can do about the weather.
"The track was already pretty wet to start with, and when it started raining it created problems. After it stopped and they did some work on it we thought we'd be OK but once the second lot of rain came there wasn't anything that could be done.
"It's disappointing but the main thing is everyone came away in one piece and without any injuries."
