SHEFFIELD head to King’s Lynn on Monday (August 3, 7.30pm) for a key fixture as the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership play-off race hots up.

The Tigers moved up to third in the table on Thursday night after recording their biggest win of the season with a 58-32 trouncing of Northampton at Owlerton.

It means they travel to the Adrian Flux Arena in high spirits - and a win in Norfolk on Monday could be their most significant of the season to date.

With King’s Lynn sitting outside the top four in fifth, and the Tigers also having one meeting in hand on their opponents, Sheffield have the opportunity to open up a six point cushion.

It was King’s Lynn who ran out 49-41 winners in the R1 fixture back in April - but that was just one of three victories in seven home league fixtures this term.
Tigers’ team boss Simon Stead said: “King’s Lynn away from home is always difficult.

“It’s a difficult track and I’m sure Rob Lyon (King’s Lynn team manager) will make his boys aware of the importance of this fixture.

“Because they came and beat us at our place not so long back, I’m sure they will see this as an opportunity to get some more points on the board.

“But this fixture does not hold any fears for us; we’re going into it on the back of two, really solid wins and whilst we expect King’s Lynn to make it difficult for us, we’re going there to give it our best shot.”

Sheffield have booked former King’s Lynn racer Richard Lawson to guest at No.1 for the injured Jack Holder whilst King’s Lynn have booked former Sheffield man Jason Edwards to stand in for injured reserve Jordan Jenkins.
