SHEFFIELD have the chance to create some breathing space inside the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership’s top four when they host King’s Lynn on Thursday (July 9, 7.30pm).
The Tigers have raced fewer meetings than anyone else in the top-flight to date - yet they still currently occupy one of the play-off positions at this stage.
Thursday’s opponents King’s Lynn sit two points behind Sheffield in the standings - but have raced two fixtures more.
And with three more league points on the line at Owlerton, with the Stars leading 49-41 on aggregate following the two’s head-to-head in Norfolk in April, the Tigers have an opportunity to move five ahead of their opponents who are in fifth.
King’s Lynn are yet to taste success on the road this term and, disappointing, dropped a point at home to bottom side Northampton on Monday, whilst Sheffield can make it three wins on the spin for the first time in 2026.
Tigers team boss Simon Stead said: “If we could get three more points on Thursday then that would give us a nice bit of breathing space ahead of them – and we’ve still got a couple of meetings in hand on them as well.
“One thing’s for sure though, King’s Lynn will not be an easy fixture for us. I know their away record hasn’t been great this year, I know they were disappointed to drop points at home to Northampton on Monday, but look at the team they’ve got.
“If that King’s Lynn team actually all clicked on the same night, they could do damage to anyone.
“Hopefully that won’t be on Thursday though and as I always say, we can’t take our foot off the gas, we just need to focus on making sure we get our own jobs done.”
With all six Premiership clubs in action, the Tigers will once again operate Rider Replacement for injured No.1 Jack Holder whilst reserve Jye Etheridge is still feeling the effects of a big crash whilst on Championship duty at the weekend; former King’s Lynn youngster Jake Mulford guests.
Tigers Ten Tickets are valid and holders must show their card at the hut outside Napoleons Casino to receive their parking free of charge before gaining admission via the VIP gate next to the main turnstiles.
Racenight+ tickets, which include admission, 1x Official Racenight Programme, Centre Green viewing of Heats 8-11, plus a signed photograph selected at random upon entry, will remain on sale until 12 noon on the day of the fixture via http://www.sheffield-speedway.com/ticketoffice.
Racenight+ admission can be gained via the VIP gate next to the main turnstiles.
Standard admission tickets can be purchased by cash or card at the turnstiles on racenight only which open from 6pm. Supporters are advised that Turnstile 1 is Card ONLY whilst Turnstiles 2 and 3 are both cash and card.
The sixth issue of our ‘Tiger Talk’ Racenight programme will also be available for £4 on entry to the stadium.
And ‘Tigers Jackpot’ tickets will again be on sale with the jackpot boosted to a starting figure of £445 which will increase with every ticket purchased for just £1.
