PREVIEW: NORTHAMPTON v TIGERS

Wednesday June 17, 2026
SHEFFIELD resume their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership programme with a trip to Northampton on Thursday (June 18, 7.30pm).

The Tigers are set to get back on track for the first time since the end of last month following two consecutive rain-offs.

The Owlerton outfit sit on five league points from five fixtures so far - but are still awaiting their first away win of the year.

If they are to do that at the home of the British Speedway newcomers though, they’ll have to do so without skipper Josh Pickering who is required to fulfil recently picked up Polish League commitments.

Tigers team manager Simon Stead said: “With Leicester and Belle Vue the only two teams not down to race on Thursday, our guest options were limited.

“Picko is second in our averages though, meaning each of the boys, including Jack (Holder) get an extra ride and it’s a good opportunity for our own lads to get some extra, competitive laps.

“It’s been such a stop-start season so far and it doesn’t really feel like we’ve got going.

“But the fixtures are soon going to be coming thick and fast and whilst it won’t be easy against a Northampton side who have been growing in belief it seems in recent outings, it would be nice if we could restart our fixtures with a positive result.”

The Tigers do welcome back Rising Star Luke Killeen who has made progress following a recent rib injury.
