SHEFFIELD TO STAGE CLRC

Monday May 11, 2026
SHEFFIELD will host a Saturday speedway showpiece as the Championship League Riders’ Championship returns to South Yorkshire in September.

The big second tier individual event will take place at Owlerton Stadium on Saturday, September 12 with a 5pm start.

Tigers co-owner, and British Speedway vice-chairman, Damien Bates said: “I’m really excited to bring the CLRC back to Sheffield - even more so with us being able to secure the stadium for a rare Saturday evening of speedway.

“Hopefully that will encourage more supporters to make the trip as Sheffield is just about as central as you can get when you look at the current clubs in the Championship.

“In my mind, Sheffield is the traditional home of this competition; the PLRC was always hugely successful whenever it was held at Owlerton and we enjoyed a good couple of years of the CLRC pre-Covid.

“When you look at the heat-leaders in the second division this year as well we could be in for an absolutely fantastic field and we’ll make it a night not to miss all round that’s for sure.”

As this is a BSP event, Sheffield supporters should note that Tigers Ten Tickets will NOT be valid.

Full ticket details will be confirmed nearer the time with sponsorship opportunities also available in due course.
