TIGERS V EDINBURGH - THURSDAY, PREVIEW

Wednesday July 06, 2011
SHEFFIELD Tigers are expected to welcome back Josh Auty for their Premier League clash with reigning champions Edinburgh at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45).

Auty suffered a broken ankle six weeks ago but has made good progress in his recovery and looks all set for an early return.
Sheffield club owner Neil Machin is predicting a tough encounter.

He said: “Edinburgh will make it tough, no doubt about that. They have quality riders throughout their team and we will need to be on our toes.

“Kevin Wolbert is a proven international performer and in Tim Webster and Kyle Howarth at reserve they have riders who have been scoring well for their National League clubs so it’s good to see them getting a chance at Premier League level.

“As we are top of the table it’s important for us to keep up the momentum and it’s a meeting we have to take three points from, we cannot even afford to drop a point.

“I’m sure we will see some good racing on the fastest track in British Speedway.

“But our performance against Workington last week was probably the best of the season and we will be looking for more of the same from this meeting.”

As a bonus for supporters, there will be some vintage racing after the main event which always creates plenty of interest.

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Hugh Skidmore, Josh Auty, Emiliano Sanchez, Shane Parker, Simon Lambert, Ashley Birks.

EDINBURGH: Kevin Wolbert, Matt Wethers, Andrew Tully, Kalle Katajisto, Craig Cook, Tim Webster, Kyle Howarth.
