TIGERS ANNOUNCE SAMARITANS LINK

SHEFFIELD Speedway are delighted to reveal a link-up between their Tiger Cubs development team and Sheffield Samaritans.

Representatives of the charity will be on hand at Owlerton this Thursday for the presentation of the new racejackets as the senior team do battle with Newcastle in the Premier League.

The Tiger Cubs have a series of meetings lined up, both home and away, over the coming weeks and will be spreading the word about the fine work of Samaritans.

Sheffield’s Youth Development Officer Nigel Hinchcliffe said: “The Tigers Cubs and Sheffield Speedway as a club in general are proud to support the excellent work of Samaritans in the city and from now on the team will be known as Sheffield Samaritans Tiger Cubs.

“We have a purpose of raising the profile of the charity in Sheffield and on our travels.”

Samaritans are universally recognised for their work helping people in times of distress and despair, including those with suicidal feelings. Speedway, as in life, can be unpredictable where someone’s ambitions and dreams can be destroyed in a moment and their world turned upside down.

Said Hinchcliffe: “Our young Tiger Cubs are full of such ambitions, to progress to the top of their chosen sport, and will carry the Samaritans name to highlight the fact that when times are not so good and the future looks bleak there is, thankfully, someone there to turn to for support.

“Samaritans are a charity and so in turn they need our support in order to continue their valuable work. Please visit their website at Samaritans.org to find ways you can help.”
