SHEFFIELD Speedway have issued the following statement in the aftermath of the postponement of the Premier League meeting at Glasgow today, Sunday May 30, 2011:

“Sheffield Speedway received a telephone call from Glasgow Speedway at approximately 12.30pm informing us that the meeting had been postponed.

“We were told this was because it was raining and the weather forecast suggested it wouldn’t improve so the decision was taken.

“This is in direct contradiction to what two members of our own team told us. They had travelled up last night and arrived at the track to inform us there was in fact no rain.

“For this reason we have asked the Speedway Control Bureau to conduct an inquiry into the postponement.”
