AWAY DAY JOY FOR TIGERS

Saturday April 28, 2007
TIGERS made it two wins on the trot with a well deserved 46-43 success at Berwick.

And they had to do it without James Birkinshaw for the majority of the meeting after he crashed out of his third ride and was taken to hospital as a precaution - thankfully he was released later in the evening.

At one stage Sheffield were 12-points up thanks to some determined racing from guest Chris Kerr, in for Ben Wilson who was in British Under-21 duty at Eastbourne, and impressive reserve Paul Cooper.

But the Bandits managed to slowly eat away at that lead and went ahead with a maximum in heat 9.

Tigers bounced back immediately and going into the last race they were seven-points ahead and in no danger of losing, ruling out the need for a tension filled last rade decider.

BERWICK 43: Jacek Rempala 12, Andrew Tully 9+1, Michal Makovsky 7+1, Michael Coles 7, Andreas Bergstrom 5+3, Stanislaw Burza 3+1, Rob Grant 0.
SHEFFIELD 46: Paul Cooper 12+2, Ricky Ashworth 11+1, Andre Compton 10, Chris Kerr 8+2, James Birkinshaw 3, James Cockle 2+1, Joel Parsons r/r.
