WORKINGTON 55 TIGERS 37

Saturday April 09, 2011
SHEFFIELD came away from Workington empty handed after a 55-37 defeat on Saturday.

Josh Auty continued his fine start to the season to lead the Tigers scorechart with 10 and skipper Ricky Ashworth notched 9+1

There was some good racing for the Derwent Park crowd to enjoy, especially in Heat 3 when Rusty Harrison got the better of Ashworth and Tomas Topinka.

And in the next race Auty had to work hard to pass Peter Kildermand but finished the heat well ahead of his rivals.

Boss Eric Boocock used both Ashworth and Emiliano Sanchez as tactical rides in the final third of the meeting but they failed to gain any ground on a determined Comets outfit.

It was the first time in four outings that Sheffield had failed to pick up a point and they will be looking to bounce back against Somerset at Owlerton on Thursday.

WORKINGTON: Rusty Harrison 13+1, Peter Kildermand 11, Charles Wright 8+3, James Wright 8+1, Tomas Topinka 8+1, Richard Lawson 7, Gary Irving 0.

SHEFFIELD: Josh Auty 10, Ricky Ashworth 9+1, Hugh Skidmore 7, Simon Lambert 4, Shane Parker 3+2, Emiliano Sanchez 3, Ashley Birks 1.
