SHANE Parker was the star of the show as Sheffield Tigers picked up three more valuable Premier League points with a 56-35 win over Newport at Owlerton on Thursday.

Parker top scored with 12+2 and also pulled off the race of the night when he won Heat 15 in sensational style to send the fans home happy.

Former Tigers star Kyle Legault was the best rider for the visitors with a 13-point haul but Sheffield were the better side with a superb all-round performance.

Impressive Tigers youngster Ashley Birks pulled out of the meeting with an arm injury but early suggestions are it is nothing serious.

Sheffield have now gained seven-points from their opening three league outings to mix with the early pacesetters and deserve great credit for this display against a solid Welsh outfit.

SHEFFIELD: Shane Parker 12+2, Ricky Ashworth 11+1, Hugh Skidmore 9+2, Emiliano Sanchez 8+2, Simon Lambert 7+2, Josh Auty 6, Ashley Birks 3.

NEWPORT: Kyle Legault 13, Leigh Lanham 5, Kim Nilsson 4+1, Mark Jones 4+1, Robin Aspegren 3+1, Joe Haines 3+1, Todd Kurtz 3.
