SHEFFIELD Tigers opened their home Premier League campaign with a hard fought 51-41 win over Berwick at Owlerton on Thursday.
It was a solid all-round effort from Eric Boocock's side who have now gained four points from their first two league outings.
Aussie ace Hugh Skidmore was top scorer for Sheffield with 11 and there was a welcome return from injury for Emiliano Sanchez who notched 8.
Sheffield made a blistering start but Berwick, who had former Sheffield man Josef Franc at the top of their scorecharts, kept hanging on and it was only in the latter stages when the home side made sure of maximum points.
