TIGERS V BERWICK - THURSDAY, PREVIEW

Wednesday March 30, 2011
SHEFFIELD Tigers are looking to make a winning start to their home Premier League campaign when they face Berwick at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45).

And that means there will be a welcome return for two Tigers old boys in Lee Complin and Josef 'Pepe' Franc who were both popular during their time at the club.

Sheffield opened up their league schedule with a consolation point from their 46-44 defeat at Rye House at the weekend and they are now looking for maximum points on home shale.

But club owner Neil Machin warns: "Berwick are a good side and in Charlie Gjedde they have a rider who is scoring well in the Elite League when doubling-up for Belle Vue.

“Lee Complin knows this track well after starting his career with us and nobody will forget his brilliant display in the Garry Stead Benefit meeting here.

“And there’s Pepe Franc who was a pleasure to work with when we had him in our team last season so this Berwick side has the ability to push us very hard. It should be a good night of racing and it will be tough for our guys.

“If we can win our home meetings and pick up points here and there away from home then we will be in for a good season.”

Tigers are waiting until the last possible moment for Emiliano Sanchez to make a decision on whether to race after missing the last fortnight with rib and shoulder damage.

TIGERS: Shane Parker, Emiliano Sanchez, Ricky Ashworth, Hugh Skidmore, Josh Auty, Ashley Birks, Simon Lambert.

BERWICK: Charlie Gjedde, Hynek Stichauer, Kozza Smith, Josef Franc, Lee Complin, Tamas Sike, Jade Mudgway.
