TIGERS 59 SCUNTHORPE 35

Thursday March 24, 2011
SHEFFIELD Tigers overcame the absence of key man Emiliano Sanchez to demolish Premier League rivals Scunthorpe 59-35 in Thursday's Steel Town Challenge clash at Owlerton.

Sanchez is out with rib and shoulder damage and is set to miss Saturday's league opener at Rye House - but Eric Boocock's men showed they have strength in-depth to cover for the Argentinian ace.

Josh Auty, who is all set to double-up with Elite League champions Coventry, continued his sensational start to the season to head the Sheffield scorechart with an unbeaten 17+1 from six outings in an impressive all-round team display.

He received some great backing, with Hugh Skidmore and Shane Parker providing their best performances of the three meetings so far, with 13 and 12+2 respectively.

David Howe was top man for the Scorpions with 11, but a lack of race winners cost them dearly.

SHEFFIELD: Josh Auty 17+1, Hugh Skidmore 13, Shane Parker 12+2, Ricky Ashworth 8, Simon Lambert 7+2, Ashley Birks 2, Emiliano Sanchez R/R.

SCUNTHORPE: David Howe 11, Viktor Bergstrom 9+1, Ben Wilson 8, Carl Wilkinson 5, Tommy Jorgensen 1+1, Steve Worrall 1, Tero Aarnio 0.
