TIGERS V SCUNTHORPE - THURSDAY, PREVIEW

Wednesday March 23, 2011
EMILIANO Sanchez has been ruled out of Sheffield’s two meetings in three days starting at home to Scunthorpe on Thursday (7.45).

The club will utilise the rider replacement facility to cover for his absence as he is suffering from shoulder and rib damage after a crash in the opening night clash with Belle Vue last week.

After Thursday’s Steel Town Trophy second leg – Tigers lead by four-points from the first leg – they launch their Premier League campaign with a tough trip to Rye House on Saturday.

New Sheffield signing Shane Parker, who has made an encouraging start to his Owlerton career, says they can’t afford to take Scunthorpe for granted.

He said: “They’ve had a meeting under their belt with the new silencers now, we were fresh from a home meeting the night before so we had that advantage over them.

“We can’t take them for granted and from our point of view it’s another opportunity to get in some important laps before the start of the league programme at Rye House on Saturday.

“It would be nice to get a win under our belt and go to Rye House in good shape to get something from our opening league meeting.”

SHEFFIELD: Shane Parker, Hugh Skidmore, Ricky Ashworth, Emiliano Sanchez R/R, Josh Auty, Simon Lambert, Ashley Birks.

SCUNTHORPE: David Howe, Thomas Jorgensen, Tero Aarnio, Carl Wilkinson, Ben Wilson, Steve Worrall, Viktor Bergstrom.
