SHEFFIELD Tigers have announced details of an exciting launch to their 2011 Speedway season – by taking on Elite League giants Belle Vue Aces.

The world-famous Manchester club will visit Owlerton Stadium on Thursday, March 17, in a ‘War of the Roses’ clash between two great rivals.

It’s the second successive year that the Aces have opened the Owlerton season – they just edged home 47-43 last March on a thrilling night of racing.

Tigers co-boss David Hoggart said: "What a brilliant way to start the new season at Owlerton, I can think of no better way than taking on the Aces.

"I can't wait to see their faces when we send tham back across to Manchester after beating them. You should have seen the look of desperation on their faces when we had them on the run here last season, they were dreading getting beaten by a Premier League team.”
