GLASGOW 41 TIGERS 48

Sunday October 10, 2010
SHEFFIELD collected their fifth away win of the season with a fine performance at Glasgow – taking all four points from the meeting.

Josh Auty and in-form reserve Simon Lambert both scored big to see Tigers home in a meeting which they never trailed in.

They took the lead in Heat 3 thanks to a race win from Hugh Skidmore after Glasgow’s John Branney had touched the tapes, and two falls for Josh Grajczonek didn’t help the home side.

Sheffield always had control, and their points were virtually secured thanks to a stunning effort by Auty in Heat 13 as he rounded home No.1 Travis McGowan to link up with partner Ricky Ashworth for a vital 5-1 which extended the lead to seven.

Nick Morris's win in Heat 14 was not enough for the home side as Lambert and Richard Hall packed in for second and third places behind him, and with Sheffield's win confirmed the only remaining issue was whether they could share the last race to take all four points.

The pressure increased when Ashworth failed to leave the start-line due to mechanical failure, but the sublime Auty was still up to the job, racing clear of Morris and McGowan to leave Tigers celebrating.

GLASGOW 41: Travis McGowan 14+1, Nick Morris 11, Josh Grajczonek 5, Kyle Howarth 4+2, John Branney 4, James McBain 3+1, Joe Screen R/R.

SHEFFIELD 48: Simon Lambert 15, Josh Auty 14, Hugh Skidmore 9+1, Ricky Ashworth 6+3, Richard Hall 4+1, Steven Morris 0, Josef Franc R/R.
