ASHWORTH WINS NORTHERN RIDERS TITLE

Thursday September 09, 2010
RICKY Ashworth fired a message to the rest of the Premier League with a fine victory in the Northern Riders' Championship at Owlerton on Thursday.

Ashworth notched 13-points from his five outings in a hugely entertaining meeting, just days after missing out on a place in the Premier League Riders' Championship on September 26.

And Tigers had three of their own riders in the top four with Ashworth closely followed by Hugh Skidmore who was runner-up ahead of Mark Lemon of Newcastle. Home favourite Richard Hall carded 10-points and Josh Auty won his last ride in his 7-points.

Tigers co-promoter David Hoggart said: "This was a quality line-up and we're delighted for Ricky because he is a quality rider and it's nice for him to win some silverware. This is a prestigious title to win."
