TIGERS 67 REDCAR 25

Thursday May 27, 2010
SHEFFIELD Tigers are clinging on to hope of a Premier Trophy semi-final spot after a 67-25 demolition of Redcar Bears at Owlerton on Thursday.

It was a stunning display by the Sheffield Window Centre-backed side - and they could easily have hit the 70-point mark but for Richard Hall's blown engine in Heat 13.

Every Tigers rider weighed in with big scores - including reserve Arlo Bugeja who put one over his former club and included a breathtaking win over former World Champion Gary Havelock.

The win was made all the more impressive by the fact that Josef Franc was ruled out with the injuries he sustained in last week’s win over Berwick.

And former Tiger Ben Wilson made his comeback from injury but was clearly short of match fitness on a miserable night for the visitors.

From the moment talented Aussie youngster Hugh Skidmore romped to victory in the opening race with Ricky Ashworth just behind him Sheffield were on a mission.

Redcar used both Gary Havelock and Emiliano Sanchez for tactical rides but they failed to gain an advantage from either race as the hungry Tigers tore into them.

The sides meet again on Friday at the South Tees Motorsport Park - but this time it's on Prermier League business.

SHEFFIELD: Richard Hall 15, Ricky Ashworth 12+2, Hugh Skidmore 12+2, Paul Cooper 10+3, Josh Auty 10+2, Arlo Bugeja 8+1, Josef Franc R/R.

REDCAR: Ben Wilson 7+1, Gary Havelock 6, Emiliano Sanchez 5, Henning Bager 4, Stuart Swales 2, Tomas Suchanek 1, Gary Irving 0.
