SKIDMORE UPDATE

Friday May 21, 2010
SHEFFIELD Speedway are pleased to report that Australian youngster Hugh Skidmore suffered no broken bones in his horrific crash at Owlerton on Thursday.

Skidmore tangled with Berwick star Adrian Rymel in Heat 1 of the Premier League clash and piled into the fence, the meeting being heavily delayed whilst medical staff took all precautions with concerns over the Tigers rider's neck.

Fortunately, hospital x-rays have given Skidmore the all-clear and he is now back home recuperating.

Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart said: "It was a horrible crash and we were all very worried about Hugh.

"It's a great relief that there is no serious damage, and although he is heavily bruised and generally knocked-around, a week's rest should be enough for him and we expect to see him back next Thursday against Redcar.

"We'd like to pay tribute to our medical staff, rider safety is absolutely paramount to all of us and they gave Hugh the best possible care. We're just happy that the outcome was not far worse, and now we can properly reflect on what was a tremendous night of racing after the accident with a fine performance from our lads."
