TIGERS TAKE BRUMMIES BONUS

Friday April 06, 2007
SHEFFIELD Tigers claimed the aggregate bonus point from their Premier Trophy tie at Birmingham after going down to a 52-41 defeat.

Skipper Andre Compton top scored with 13 - including six-points when he took a tactical ride.

The meeting was close until two races from the end when Birmingham came good with successive race adavantages.

James Cockle - pictured - crashed in the penultimate race and was complaining of pains in his shoulder. He now faces a late fitness test before Monday's meeting with King's Lynn at Owlerton (6pm).

Tigers co-promoter David Hoggart said: "It was a cracking meeting at Birmingham and, with circumstances in our favour, we could have got a draw or even won there.

"Ricky Ashworth had some problems and we needed more strength in depth, but overall the boys worked hard over two meetings and we were particularly pleased with Joel Parsons at Birmingham."

BIRMINGHAM: Jason Lyons 14, Ulrich Ostergaard 9, Emiliano Sanchez 8+3, Brent Werner 7+1, Aidan Collins 6+3, Ben Powell 6+3, Lee Smart 2.
SHEFFIELD: Andre Compton 13, Joel Parsons 11, Ben Wilson 7, Ricky Ashworth 5+1, James Birkinshaw 4, James Cockle 1+1, Paul Cooper 0.
