SHEFFIELD Tigers bounced back to winning ways with a thrilling 54-39 success over Berwick at Owlerton on Thursday.
The result handed Eric Boocock's men the maximum three Premier League points on offer - but it was at a cost after Australian Hugh Skidmore crashed in the opening race.
Skidmore was taken to hospital with a suspected neck injury although he had full movement and the treatment was precautionary.
Skipper Paul Cooper top scored with 14+2 as he was forced to take extra rides at reserve to comensate for the loss of Skidmore.
But it was a solid all-round Sheffield performance against a determined Berwick side who included former Owlerton favourite Lee Complin, back from a serious arm injury.
Said Cooper: "We're all hoping Hugh will be OK. It was pleasing for us to get a win like that and on a personal note I was pleased with my display."
