RUN-OFF FOR HALL

Thursday May 06, 2010
RICHARD Hall is left facing a race-off before he knows whether he will take his place in this season’s British Final.

Confusion reigned at Owlerton on Thursday night as the rain fell and forced the abandonment of the British semi-final after just twelve of the scheduled twenty races had been completed.

The result was allowed to stand, but Hall will have to wait another six days before he knows whether he’ll be lining up in the Final at Wolverhampton on Monday June 14.

Hall was tied on five points with Danny King for eighth place at the time of the stoppage and the two riders have both agreed to go to King’s Lynn next Wednesday to race-off for the final qualifying spot.

If Hall does eventually make it to Wolverhampton, he will be the lone Sheffield representative as Tigers team-mate Ricky Ashworth was eliminated on four points.

Leading the qualifiers was former British Champion Scott Nicholls with nine points, a figure also matched by Jordan Frampton. Olly Allen also made it through to Wolverhampton with seven, but the big shock of the night was the elimination of 2010

Grand Prix star Tai Woffinden, who after suffering an engine failure in his second ride, only mustered four points.
