OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT

Thursday March 29, 2007
SHEFFIELD Speedway have issued a full statement in relation to the 75-15 whitewash suffered by the team at King's Lynn last night.

Co-promoters Neil Machin and David Hoggart have issued a full apology to those fans who made the journey to the Norfolk Arena.

The joint statement reads: "No comment is not an option and whilst our priorities were with Andre Compton last night this morning we have the reddest faces in the sport.

"When we put this young and relatively inexperienced team together we recognised that we would be exposed in some areas and Andre is the key to not only covering that exposure with his performance but also to develop the team skills.

"Losing him at such an early stage sent us into freefall and we both regret this.

"There will be a team meeting before tonight’s match and we will discuss issues behind closed doors, it is far to soon to comment further or consider team changes but we simply cannot expect last night's performance to be acceptable to either our customers or our sponsors. "

A FULL BULLETIN ON WEATHER AND TRACK CONDITIONS FOR TONIGHT'S RETURN LEG AT OWLERTON WILL BE ISSUED AT MIDDAY - PLUS AN UPDATE ON ANDRE COMPTOON'S INJURIES.
