SHEFFIELD v NEWPORT - THURSDAY PREVIEW

Wednesday July 15, 2009
SHEFFIELD will be looking to keep their recent good run of form going when they entertain Newport at Owlerton tomorrow night (7.45pm).

The Tigers remain unbeaten at home in the league this season and on Sunday they had their first away success of the campaign with a 50-40 victory at Glasgow.

That leaves them in eighth place in the Premier League table and they will be looking to improve on that position following the visit of the Welsh club.

Tigers promoter Neil Machin won’t be taking anything for granted though and is also aware that the Wasps have a couple of dangermen in their side.

He said: "Our aim is to send them back to South Wales empty-handed but I think they could be a tougher test than many people will be expecting.

"Paul Fry has a good record around here down the years and he's always a welcome visitor as he never gives up. I expect him and Jordan Frampton to top the Newport scorecharts - both will enjoy riding here.”

Supporters are reminded that Great Britain's World Cup race-off in Poland against Sweden, Denmark and Australia will be shown on TV screens throughout the stadium.

And there is a full second-half with a team of Scandinavian youngsters doing battle over eight races.

There will also be a minute's silence in memory of club friend Kenny Smith, the Scunthorpe manager who sadly passed away on Monday.

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Hugh Skidmore, Joel Parsons, Richard Hall, Josh Auty, Paul Cooper, Chris Mills.
NEWPORT: Leigh Lanham, Chris Kerr, Jonas Andersson, Jordan Frampton, Paul Fry, Marek Mroz, James Holder.
