SHEFFIELD 53 NEWCASTLE 42

Thursday June 04, 2009
TIGERS continued their encourging form with a 53-42 Premier Trophy win over Newcastle at Owlerton on Thursday night.

And whilst they've failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition they have restored some pride after a poor run.

New signing Hugh Skidmore made a stunning debut with two races wins and both Richard Hall and Paul Cooper were in fine form.

Skidmore finished with paid 8 as Sheffield eased to victory against a Diamonds side hit by a third race injury to Derek Sneddon which ruled him out of the rest of the meeting, while Trent Leverington and Adam McKinna also failed to score.

But the visitors had superb performances from Kenni Larsen and former Tiger Lee Complin to keep them in the meeting, claiming a paid 31 points between them, while Jason King was also a lively performer.
