BIG BACKING FOR TIGERS

Monday May 04, 2009
SHEFFIELD Tigers are set to take plenty of support to Scunthorpe for their opening Premier League meeting of the season on Tuesday.

Admission prices at the Eddie Wright Raceway have been slashed to just £5 adults and free for Under-16s.

Scunthorpe are expecting a record crowd and Ian Hunter of Sheffield Window Centre has subsidised free coach travel for Tigers supporters.

It’s a marvellous gesture as once again the Premier League is showcased live on Sky Sports.

Tigers promoter Neil Machin said: “We are delighted to be going to Scunthorpe for a live Sky Sports meeting and we have worked hard with their management to promote the event from our end.

“We hope to see a big contingent of Sheffield fans to get behind our boys and hopefully we will give a good account of ourselves and get a good result.”

Scunthorpe include former Great Britain international David Howe, their high profile winter signing from Wolverhampton, who has just started scoring big points.

Magnus Karlsson, the younger brother of Wolves skipper Peter, has enjoyed a good start to the season and in Jerran Hart at reserve they have a youngster widely tipped for a future in the Elite League.

SCUNTHORPE: David Howe, Simon Lambert, Carl Wilkinson, Viktor Bergstrom, Magnus Karlsson, Jerran Hart, Byron Bekker.
SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Paul Cooper, Ritchie Hawkins, Joel Parsons, Richard Hall, Chris Mills, Josh Auty.
