OWLS skipper Lee Bullen was a late substitute for manager Brian Laws at Sheffield Tigers' Speedway season launch - and immediately asked for another invite!

Bullen, fresh from Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Plymouth at Hillsborough, stood in after Laws had to pull out as he was travelling south to watch a player.

And Bullen was happy to talk to the riders and supporters at Owlerton and watched the seven Premier League stars go through their paces.

"I know absolutely nothing about speedway but I was delighted to accept the invite on behalf of the manager," said Bullen. "I'd like to go down there one Thursday night and see the team in a race meeting itself."

Tigers have sent Bullen an open invite to any meeting of his choice in the forthcoming season.
