SHEFFIELD Speedway have bucked the economic trend – by announcing a new club sponsorship deal.

The Owlerton club will again be supported by Sheffield Window Centre, headed by avid Tigers fan Ian Hunter, who first joined forces with the Owlerton club two years ago after the agreement with Pirtek UK came to an end.

Jubilant club owner Neil Machin said: "We've always had a very good relationship with Ian Hunter and even though he doesn't particularly like the publicity I'm sure he won't mind me saying how pleased we are to continue our links with the company.

"It's a good partnership and our profile is projected on all the Sheffield Window Centre vehicles around the city.

"It is a tough time economically, and speedway in general is likely to feel the pinch this year, so to have a major title sponsor is a massive boost for us.

"Sheffield Window Centre know we have some of the best facilities in the sport and the deal gives them the opportunity to make the most of them.

"It's our third year in partnership and hopefully it will continue well into the future."
