SHEFFIELD Tigers have finally appointed David Hoggart as co-promoter following a successful interview with the sport's top brass, writes Nigel Pearson, sheffieldtoday.net
Hoggart, a former club sponsor, faced the British Speedway Management Committee at their officesin Rugby and came through with flying colours.
Now he'll work alongside club owner Neil Machin as a replacement for Malcolm Wright, who has sold his half of the business.
Said Hoggart: "This is a very proud moment for me and I look forward to working alongside Neil.
"Running a speedway club is a daunting prospect for one person and Neil is fortunate that he has a good team around him.
"There are certain ideas I have which I intend to implement to change one or two things within the business, but Sheffield Speedway is already one of the best run clubs in the country.
"I believe we're in for an exciting season, the team looks good and I hope the Sheffield public respond by supporting us in a big way."
Machin said: "David and myself have had a good relationship for the last 10-years and his enthusiasm for the sport, and our club in particular, can only benefit us.
"The departure of Malcolm Wright was a blow but in David we have someone who can come in with his own ideas and, at the same time, calm me down when I get a little heated!"
Meanwhile Tigers are still in negotiations with a mystery Elite League cloub with a view to bringing them to Owlerton for the opening night on Thursday, March 15.
