TIGERS PIP TITLE HOPEFULS

SHEFFIELD put a dent in Somerset’s Premier League title hopes with a 50-40 victory at Owlerton on Thursday night.

The Sheffield Window Centre-backed side had more strength in depth and gave their hopes of a Young Shield place a massive boost.

Somerest were hardly helped by the fact that Jason Doyle crashed out of the meeting in Heat 13 when chasing double points as a tactical ride.

At that stage. Tigers led by ten points although had Doyle managed to claim his third win of the night it would have tightened the scoreline dramatically going into the last two heats.

Somerset's lively Jordan Frampton won the re-run, but the minor placings from Ben Wilson and Joel Parsons made sure of the home victory.

Sheffield skipper Andre Compton, who top scored with 16-points, was pleased with the result.

He said: “Somerset are a top side and this is a great result for us.”
