TIGERS FACE REBELS WITH A CAUSE

Wednesday September 10, 2008
SHEFFIELD Tigers can have a say in the race for the Premier League title when they face Somerset at Owlerton on Thursday (7.45pm).

The Rebels are involved in a thrilling battle for the championship with Edinburgh Monarchs and head into the meeting on the back of a stunning win at Raeding on Monday.

For their part, the Sheffield Window Centre-backed side are looking to secure a place in the Young Shield competition with a string of home wins.

Tigers owner Neil Machin said: “Somerset are a great side and we will need to be on top form to beat them, even on our own track.”

Aussie ace Jason Doyle has been a revelation for the Rebels in his first season with the club and he will be back at Owlerton on September 21 as their representative at the Premier League Riders’ Championship.

Emil Kramer is an experienced Premier League rider having won the treble with Hull in 2004 and Stephan Katt is an expert on bigger tracks like Owlerton.

Both sides are using the rider replacement facility – Sheffield for Ashworth and Somerset for their injured young captain Simon Walker.

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth R/R, Joel Parsons, Andre Compton, Paul Cooper, Ben Wilson, Kyle Hughes, Lee Smethills.
SOMERSET: Jason Doyle, Simon Walker R/R, Emil Kramer, Stephan Katt, Jordan Frampton, Brent Werner, Mathias Kroger.
