GREAT WIN AT GLASGOW - AT A COST...

Sunday August 10, 2008
BRAVE Sheffield pulled off a fine 46-44 away win over Glasgow on Sunday – but it was at a cost.

Ricky Ashworth, who has been in good form in recent weeks, is out for a month after suffering a broken right wrist in a horrifying Heat 11 spill.

The Salford-based rider clashed with Trent Leverington, who was on the outside of him, and both ended up in the safety fence at high speed.

Paul Cooper pulled off the race of the match to help Sheffield to a welcome win in a rain affected meeting.
Cooper ignored the damp conditions and turned on the style for the loyal travelling band of Tigers fans with a brilliant 10+3 score.

And skipper Andre Compton, who has been a pale shadow of his usual self in the last month, was at his best with a full 15-point maximum.

GLASGOW: Josh Grajczonek 16+4, Robert Ksiezak 10, Mitchell Davey 7+1, Lee Dicken 5, Carl Stonehewer 3+1, Anders Andersen 2, Trent Leverington 1.
SHEFFIELD: Andre Compton 15, Paul Cooper 10+3, Ricky Ashworth 6, Scott Smith 5+1, Joel Parsons 5, Ben Wilson 3+1, Kyle Hughes 2.
