FEN TIGERS ARE IN TOWN

Wednesday July 02, 2008
SHEFFIELD will be looking for two more Premier League points when they line-up against basement side Mildenhall at Owlerton on Thursday (tapes up 7.45pm).

The Suffolk side have experienced a tough time of it this season during which they have lost all thirteen of their league meetings.

In a bid to halt the slide they have this week brought in Dutch star Theo Pijper to replace the injured Jari Makinen, but at the same time Kaj Laukkanen has quit the club. Ipswich’s Chris Schramm has been called in as a guest to replace the Finnish star.

They also have a doubt over former Tiger Robbie Kessler, so the German faces a late fitness check having recently been laid low with a chest infection.

Sheffield hope to have Paul Cooper in their line-up after the Yorkshireman crashed out of last week’s defeat at Rye House in his opening ride.

Despite the opposition’s problems, Tigers boss Neil Machin is warning his team not to take the fixture lightly. He said: “The addition of Schramm and Pijper will give Mildenhall a different look.

“I saw them push Scunthorpe to a last-heat decider recently and they have signed Pijper since then. They will want to come here and prove a few points.”

SHEFFIELD: Ricky Ashworth, Joel Parsons, Andre Compton, Lee Smethills, Ben Wilson, Kyle Hughes, Paul Cooper

MILDENHALL: Chris Schramm, Michal Rajkowski, Theo Pijper, Robbie Kessler, Jan Gravesen, Mark Baseby, Matt Wright
