TIGERS star Ricky Ashworth was out of luck in the New Year Classic at Newport on Sunday as Wolverhampton's David Howe took the honours.
Ashworth, a late call-up to the meeting which was re-arranged after being postponed last weekend, scored four points from his five rides after starting with a fall in his first outing. Howe and Chris Harris tied at the top of the leaderboard with 13 points each and contested the Final closely, Howe coming through in the closing stages to win. Leigh Lanham was third and Chris Neath fourth, whilst Tigers asset Richard Hall scored seven.
