EDINBURGH 56 TIGERS 33

Friday June 20, 2008
SHEFFIELD'S travel sickness continued with a 56-33 defeat at Edinburgh on Friday night.

Skipper Andre Compton worked hard for his 10-points but Ricky Ashworth was forced to pull out of the meeting on medical advice after a clash with Californian star Ryan Fisher.

The result wasn't much of a surprise as the Monarchs are one of the clear challengers for the championship - but Eric Boocock's men were able to keep a respectable scoreline for the majority of the match.

Edinburgh had too much strength in-depth for the Owlerton men and when Compton was nominated for double-points under the tactical ride rule he failed to beat an opposing rider.

Joel Parsons replaced Ashworth as a tactical substitute from a 15-metre handicap - but it was always a tall order and although team-mate Ben Wilson clearly allowed him through for third place it was ineffective as, like Compton earlier, he failed to beat an Edinburgh rider.

EDINBURGH: William Lawson 15, Andrew Tully 12+2, Matthew Wethers 10+2, Derek Sneddon 7+1, Aaron Summers 5+1, Ryan Fisher 5+1, Adam McKinna 2.
SHEFFIELD: Andre Compton 10, Ricky Ashworth 7+1, Joel Parsons 6, Ben Wilson 4+1, Kyle Hughes 4, Lee Smethills 2+1, Paul Cooper 0.
