PREVIEW: LEICESTER v TIGERS

Sunday September 14, 2025
SHEFFIELD travel to Leicester on Monday (September 15, 7.30pm) for the first leg of their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership Play-Off Semi-Final.

The Tru7 Group Tigers are involved in the end of season shootout for a fifth straight year since stepping up into the top-flight of British Speedway and will be looking to book their place in the Grand Final for the third time.

Sheffield have met Leicester on six occasions already in 2025 with the Lions coming out on top in five of those meetings.

However, the Tigers won the most recent clash between the two - and claimed the aggregate point.

They narrowly lost 48-42 on their last trip to the Hydroscand Arena and they’ll be looking to put themselves in a favourable position ahead of Thursday’s (September 18) decider at Owlerton.

Tigers’ skipper Josh Pickering said: “In the play-offs we’d rather not get so far behind to begin with, but if for whatever reason we do, then we know what we’re made of and we know we can bring it back close again.

“Five years in a row now this club has been a part of the play-offs and we’ve managed to win the league in that run also.

“We’ve not got a bad track record and I’d say we can’t ask for too much more - but we can because we want to go out there and make sure we win it again.

“I’ve still got a good feeling about this side and I continue to stand by what I’ve said all year long - I believe we’re good enough to get through the semis and into the Grand Final and then go on and win it.”

LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Kyle Howarth, Sam Masters, Drew Kemp, Joe Thompson.
SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Leon Flint, Chris Holder, Nick Morris, Josh Pickering, Anders Rowe, Jye Etheridge.
