HUGHES STEPS IN TO REPLACE MARTIN

Tuesday June 10, 2008
SHEFFIELD Tigers have signed talented Coventry youngster Kyle Hughes on loan for the rest of the season.

Hughes, who will celebrate his 19th birthday on Sunday, replaces Sam Martin who has found the going tough in his first season of senior racing.

The deal was concluded after Hughes did enough in the Premier Trophy meetings with Birmingham to suggest he would be a better option than Martin.

Tigers co-promoter David Hoggart said: "It appears it's just one step too far, too soon, for young Sam. We wish him well and hope Kyle can come in and do a solid job for us."

Sheffield's next meeting is at home to high flying Edinburgh in Premier League action on Thursday at 7.45pm.
