TIGERS 53 BIRMINGHAM 37 (Aggregate 90 - 94)

SHEFFIELD paid the price for their poor performance in Wednesday’s Premier Tropy Semi-Final first leg at Birmingham by losing on aggregate last night.

The 53-37 home win may appear an impressive scoreline for the Sheffield SWindow Centre-backed side – but the Brummies were safe on aggregate with three races to spare after their 57-37 win at Perry Barr 24-hours earlier.

Jason Lyons' second place in heat 12 was the confirmation of Birmingham's final ticket against the winners of the other semi between Reading and Edinburgh.

Tigers finished strongly with two 5-1s as Birmingham took their foot off the gas, while it was almost a third in the finale but skipper Andre Compton just failed to overhaul Craig Watson and join Ben Wilson at the front in a titanic race.

Compton topped the home scorechart with good backing from Wilson and reserve Lee Smethills, but the exit from another competition means the Owlerton side are left with only the Premier League title to aim for.

TIGERS: A. Compton 13, B. Wilson 11, L. Smethills 11, J. Parsons 6, R. Ashworth 5+3, P. Cooper 4+2, K. Hughes 3+1.
BIRMINGHAM: C. Watson 13, J. Birkinshaw 10+2, J. Lyons 9, C. Mills 5+2, L. Smart 0, J. Hargreaves 0.
